Mike Kelly.

Mike has worked for nearly 30 years in the IT industry as programmer, systems analyst and project manager and until 1996 he was Technical Director of Brameur Ltd. and head of their Software Metrics & Measurement Unit. Until December 2003, he was a director of consultanCy M Ltd., jointly owned and managed with his wife, Marion, Europe’s leading expert on Software Configuration Management. Mike has been part of a number of teams implementing Software Process Improvement and metrics programmes in large organisations, primarily in the financial and pharmaceutical industries, in the UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Norway. These include The Dutch Social Services organisation (GAK), Lloyds TSB, Janssen Pharmaceutica, The UK Department of Social Services, Pearl Assurance and a UK local government IT department.

Mike has considerable experience of presenting at international conferences all over the Europe as well as in San Francisco and Canberra. He has also been involved in the organisation of a number of conferences, workshops and symposiums across Europe as part of his consultancy and R&D work. He also has considerable experience in writing and presenting strategic plans.

Mike also has over 20 years experience in participating in European R&D projects particularly in the fields of software quality and measurement and usability assessment and more recently in mobile tourist information technology. For many of these projects Mike was the project co-coordinator. For the last 5 years he has led the IST and eTEN projects ‘eureauweb’ which developed and is now trialling location-based mobile information services for visitors to Europe’s inland waterways. As part of these projects accessibility information provision has been high on the agenda. As coordinator of such projects, Mike’s role has not only been the day to day management and organisation, but it has also necessitated a great deal of diplomacy in getting people of different nationalities and cultures to work together successfully.
